Thanks for visiting my Music Studio web site.

My name is Rigo Murillo. I am a professional violinist and a registered Suzuki® violin teacher. I teach violin students of all ages and levels in the Northeast Dallas area at the Suzuki Institute of Dallas. I hope this web site helps you know about our studio, about me and my philosophy of music and violin education.

I embrace the teaching philosophy of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, whose teaching methods are based in the idea that all children learn to speak their mother tongue by listening to the language-filled environment around them and by receiving the proper encouragement and nurturing to imitate what they hear.

One of the most enjoyable things I do besides performing and conducting is teaching my Suzuki violin students. Every day, I try to learn how to transmit my knowledge to my students and to help their parents support their learning. Regardless of the performance level, I like to set technical and musical goals for my students and work toward reaching those goals, using the principles of the Suzuki Method.

I have had an extensive variety of performing, conducting and teaching experiences that have taught me greatly to help my students achieve the highest standards of musical performance, acquiring a solid technical foundation of violin technique. I have also learned greatly from my Suzuki training. For young children, The Suzuki approach to learning music is the most natural and simplest method, extending from ear training and going beyond the basics to to the most intricate aspects of musical expression. My Suzuki trainers have been Paul Landefeld, Pat D'Ercole, Michelle George, and Joanne Melvin. Each of them has brought different aspects and perspectives of Dr. Suzuki's teaching approach.
